A review of Places to eat in Westminster - Roux , Skylon , Cubana and a Jamaican stall at Lower Marsh Market

Hi friends, how's your week coming along?. Mine started with hanging out at a nice restaurant in Westminster. I started working in that area a few months ago and ever since then have had it in mind to write about good places to eat in Westminster.  So without further ado, let's look at some of these places.

Lower Marsh Market Stalls

A few minutes walk from my work place, this area can be reach via a tunnel with tons of beautiful graffiti. The paintings seem to change every week. It's a nice route to take away from the hustle and bustle of London eye. It's never packed so I doubt the tourists know it exists.

Passing through the tunnel leads you to the array of food stalls. The first Jamaican food stall you come across serves some of the best Caribbean dishes have ever had. Their amazing jerk chicken, tasty goat mean and mouth watering Oxtails always pulls a few crowd to the area. Pierced at just £6 pounds on average, it's always well worth the wait.

Just a stones throw from waterloo station and at the end or start of lower marsh ( depending on where you set off from ) sits a Cuban restaurant that serves street food dishes with a mix of Spanish, Caribbean, African and French influences. These dishes include but's not limited to , Cuban slow roasted free range marinated pork, Cuban styled shredded beef with rice, black beans and plantains, hot Cuban sandwiches etc. For lunch I had some free range chicken casseroled in fresh orange juice, sherry and onions served with chilli rice, Cuban black beans and plantains. This was without doubt a tasty and fragrant meal. Every bite had a bursts of oranges and chilli. The plantains were just perfect as well. On the whole I liked what I ate and would visit again.

I visited and blogged about Michel Roux Jr's restaurant a few months ago so make sure you check my " Roux" blog post. Loved the previous dishes on offer, so quick catch up with my sister entailed another visit to roux at the parliament square. The main dishes and desserts ordered were just perfect. I have to admit now that I'm a big fan of soufflés, so I was really looking forward to trying out their new selection. The main dishes selected was a succulent Iberico pork chop with a very tasty romescu sauce and a roast Anjou pigeon with spiced pickled cherries and almonds. Both dishes were really that good.

Finally , we had the delicious soufflé for desserts. If only I could remember what it was called now?. However the images below really captures the emotions linked to this dessert.

We came, we saw, we ate some very delicious desserts. Compliments to the chef ofcourse.

Last but not the least is a modern European restaurant called Skylon.

I visited this restaurant based in the Southbank building with a few colleagues from my old workplace. One of the first things that came to mind was the stunning view of the Thames from our window table. A very nice seating during the sunset indeed. The common consensus around the table regarding the taste of the dishes served was quite positive and the cocktails were also a hit.

There goes my list of restaurants and stalls you should visit if you're ever in the Westminster area.  I will hopefully visit more places in this area with time.  I hope you enjoyed blog and don't forget to check out my twitter page, Makelesmouthful for more foodie pics.

If you have any ideas about other restaurants you want me to check out, send some tweets my way. I heard a place called Restaurant story's quite good. Have a nice weekend and see you soon.
